LETI annual report
Executive Director Rosario Reyes reports "During this difficult year LETI was yet able to provide its services and help the community. Let’s look at what we have done."

As of November 2020, LETI has approximately 10,000 encounters a year with local Latinos. Of this number, we estimate that 1,500 are non-replicated. LETI serves these individuals with two full time and one part-time employee, and many dedicated volunteers (50-100 per year). Our staff, volunteers, and community partners offered this year: 

  • COVID-19 Distributed 175 Community Emergency Food Baskets
  • COVID-19 300 Verdant Fruit and Vegetable Vouchers
  • COVID-19 $20,000 worth of Emergency Food Gift Cards
  • Provided Undocumented Immigrant Fund - Application Assistance for 80 people
  • COVID-19 VOA (Volunteers of America) Emergency Rent Assistance ($27k / 135 families served) 
  • Hosted Drive-thru Flu Shots in Collaboration with Sea Mar and Coordinated Care where 160 people were served (Nov. -Dec. 2020- 160 people served) 
  • COVID-19 PPE (personal protection equipment) Kit Distribution for Small Businesses in Snohomish County (Nov. - Dec. 2020 -2,500 units)
  • COVID-19 Grab-N-Go Free Meal Kits for Kids in collaboration with Edmonds School District for 150 children
  • COVID-19 Subsidized Employment Program in collaboration with Workforce Snohomish (9 non-profit organizations referred & 20 individual recruits employed) 
  • COVID-19 Recruitment and facilitation of online registration for the Edmonds College 2020 fall Quarter: 40 Students for Spanish GED, 40 Students for English Conversation Classes and 102 students for Basic English Level 1 
  • Actively participated in promoting the Census 2020 in coordination with 16 other organizations in Snohomish County and acted as a fiscal disbursement agent for two non-profits 
  • Offered career coaching
  • Offered Internet navigation workshops Vocational school of LETI offers Bookkeeping and Office Assistance Certificates
  • Latino Leadership Initiative: Developing young leaders & promoting community  engagement (200+ students graduated in total. Service projects benefited additional  hundreds of students in Junior and Senior High Schools) 
  • Provided Adult Spanish GED with 114 graduates to date in total 
  • Three quarters per year of Conversational English with 30 participants each quarter  English classes for workers
  • Bienestar Total De La Mujer Latina (Women’s Wellness workshops) with more than 300 attendees annually with partial support from Hazel Miller Foundation
  • Business Development (55 graduates as of Nov 2020) 
  • I-DEA Integrated English Class (21 students as of October 2020) 
We were not able to organize:
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration Safety Certification
  • Labor & Industries Safety Workshops
  • Business Development (55 graduates as of Nov 2020) 
  • Financial Literacy classes
  • Home Ownership training 
  • Mexican Music and dance classes
  • Health fairs at local churches
  • Latino Expo
Many of these activities and traditional events succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic.
