Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) welcomed a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to affirm a federal judge’s ruling that prevents the Trump Administration from ending the DACA program. This ruling means that community members who have previously been granted DACA status can continue to seek renewal of that status for now.
While this is a positive development, the Trump Administration has already asked the Supreme Court to overturn this and other rulings, so the ultimate responsibility remains with Congress to pass legislation that will provide a path to citizenship to those who qualify for the DACA program.
